It's a news report; it details what happened. The witness described the judge in these terms, I merely reported it.
Somebody called the judge a bollix!!!! Wow, what an outrage, that could never have happened before.
It just shows the attitude of these middleclass Dublin 4 delinquents when they call a judge a "b****"". When Daddy fixes them up wih a job a few years from now they'll be on the other side of the establishment.
BTW, I'm not bitter but I hate the "it's who you know" culture in Ireland.
Listen up ye muppets: the quote was from a witness who happened to be in the court at the time. The individual was not an RTS defendant, nor was he a member of the legal profession. Now maybe he was from D4, but my guess is that he wasn't. The people who tend to be in the district court generally don't come from D4 (except the judges and lawyers).
If you're so outraged that somebody could refer to a judge as a bollix, you are not living in the real world. Go down to any district courthouse and canvas some opinion, you'll find that it's a pretty common expression for describing the mad old fools that tend to sit in judgement there.
Editors, please work (snip) to ensure a higher standard of trolling. The last comment makes no sense:
If these people (the accused) are so well connected (D4, daddy get 'em a job, etc.), with the insinuation of a bit of "who you know" going on, why are they being fucked around with by the law so much...?
Maybe because they're rebelling against Daddy's corporate interests at the moment so Daddy's not going to bail them out of this one. He know's they would only get a fine and a slap on the wrist so he's going to let them learn a valluble lesson in life. Then when they've got some sense in a few years he'll fix them up with a job in "the bank".
some daddy version of the oedipus complex...
The situation is ridicolous at this stage.
The cops can't remember anything or remember
who from the force was there on the day
as they are being investigated about it.
So they appear to be highly unlikely to show
up at this long drawn out case against
the defenders and recall the incidents
with any kind of clarity. The state is
contining to harass people by bringing them
into court and then adjourning the cases
so that it appears that there could be
a new government before it is dealt with.
People aren't fooled by this carry on. Many
people still remember the images of the cops
losing the run of themselves and kicking people
up the arse and battering them against doors from
the RTS demo.
More and more this bannana republic is becoming
a police state where the only crime is
to protest and the state thinks the only innocent ones are those in uniform battoning all around them.
It reminds me of a Judge Dread motto which read
"Their is a price for Freedom and that
price is democracy."
Three cops coming back from a Stag weekend in
Berlin were stopped at Dublin airport when
it was revealed that they were bringing back
Pepper Spray cannisters,
Extendable battons,
and Tazer guns.
All illegal in this country. The cops were
being investigated by their own kind who
rapidly decided to say that they were happy that
there was no criminal intent. What else were
they bringing these torture toys home for if not
to use on the poor bastards who end up in pears
st. or store street of a Friday or Saturday
night.
The LAW is unanswerable to anyone. The cops
are above it and the State pursues cases against
demonstrators because in it's eyes they are
the only ones guilty of anything.

Was the senior officer present at that particular moment . . . any chance of seeing him in court?
I'd say the odds are 100,000/1
Someone should take a civil action against him.
Sounds like you were there.
Why don't you take the action againist him?
The fact at the end of the day is that few people actually came forward and made complaints and followed them through.
Very few witnesses stepped forward.
The Gardaí will get off because despite all the talk and the outrage and "something must be done!!" talk like you're mouthing off very few people got off their hole and did something about it.
Says it all about the Irish left really.
But I recognize him from the still . . . I agree with you that the left has been innefectual in this .
